10 poems

1. The first English lesson in cram school 

At the age of eleven in spring.

I meet a new language.

Only 26 alphabets , but I cannot write them well.

“I like cats ! I don’t like science.”

Writing such a SHORT sentence,

But my world became BRIGHT.

I want to open my possibility .

2. Doing Vibrio battle in English 
Kind of game. 

Recommend a favorite book each other. 

Write a unique passage and impressive drawing.

To I can be outstanding best.

“The Phantom of Opera “is a special book.

Because of the book,I could win Vibrio battle in English.

I want to be able to write more interesting passage.

3. The moment when I aimed to acquire English proficiency

In early summer,

When I was a seventh grader.

I try my English skills .

Thick textbook makes me blue.

The more I read the text, 

 The sleepier I am .

But my cram school teacher always says that , I must study hard.

My English road is still a long way to go.
4.International Day held at high school 

The day, we speak only English.

Different eye colors ,different hair colors,many ALTs.

I talk to them about food.

Playing game in English is exciting !

Orange,pink,yellow day!

My English has to make progress.

5.Extensive reading started from the time of high school.

Reading familiar story in English.

Different emotions occur more than reading the story in Japanese.

I can meet new discovery.

Expressions of feelings,character ,contexts…

I become a book worm.

More reading helps rapid reading.

6.The moment when I sang Western music to grab the rhythm of English.

Western music is unfamiliar.

But I like singing songs very much.

Singing Western music makes the English class cheerful .

Can learn English intonation and pronunciation.

Let’s sing not only English class but also my life.

7.The moment when I saw a foreign film in English class in high school.

Unfamiliar English class.

It’s watching a foreign film.

Exciting class than usual class.

I watch “Frozen “.

A famous Disney film.

I have watched the film in Japanese.

But it’s difficult to understand.

can’t find any emotions…

But I’m helped by subtitles.

I have to make progress English LISTENING skill.

8. The moment when I debated in English at high school.

“School uniform is approval or abolish ?”

I debated in English 

Abolish side.

Need logical ideas.

School uniform is not cute…

Only I think such a thing … 

I am a drag in my team.

Bitter disappointment changes motivation to English.

 I want to debate more.

9.The moment when I sang English songs at the chorus club.

I’m a Christian, I’m a Christian.

When I sing religion songs.

Assume it.

“Ha.lle.ru.ia”

I sing “Ha.re.ru.ya”…

English intonation makes me hard.

Need to practice speaking English!
10.The moment when the English proficiency Grade 2 was acquired .

After a long interval.

I try my English skills .

… I don’t have any confidence.

I am poor LISTENING.

I listen to English more and more .

Study,study,study.

But it seems a seesaw.

I study hard,but I forget…

Then I think talking to ALT !

She is a foreigner who is close to me.

I think I can learn native pronunciation.

I can’t make myself understood in English.

I am not sure.

Then she said ,

“Don’t hesitate to talk!”

She is kind.

I have to make an effort more.


10 Descriptions 

     This the first poem describes a moment when I attended the first English lesson in cram school. I was a 6th year elementary school student. I was sitting In front of classroom. I learned alphabets for the first time. The number of alphabet is 26. Even it I could not write well. I thought that English was difficult. When I could write “I like cats and I don’t like science.” I was filled a sense of achievement. Then my English skill was inadequate. But I can’t forget this memory because it is my starting point of learning English. I thought I wanted to be good at my English.
     
    

      This the second poem describes a moment when I did “Vibrio battle ” in English. “Vibrio battle “is a kind of game which we introduce an interesting book.  
     When I was a 2nd year high school student, I was in my house. I thought unique passage and drew an impressive illustration for Vibrio battle, because I could be outstanding best. But they were not easy. My English writing skill was limit. I could not write attractive passage… 
     I introduced a book “The Phantom of Opera “. I like this story. I wanted to introduce the book well. Because I was not good at English passage,I put emphasis on illustration. Finally,I could win Vibriobattle, but I thought it ‘s because of my illustration. Then I wanted to be able to write more interesting passage.

     
    This the third poem describes a moment when I aimed to acquire English proficiency.   

     When I was a 1st year junior high school student, I tried my English skills. It was English proficiency Grade 5. I studied in my house and cram school. In my house,I thought I studied hard, but I became sleepy because of a thick textbook. There was a lot of words I didn’t know. Studying in myself made me losing confidence. 

     However, studying in cram school made me gaining confidence back. My cram school teacher taught to me English Grammar and a knack for listening.
     This the 4th poem describes a moment International Day held at high school .

     When I was a 1st year high school student, International Day held at high school. The day was speaking English day all the day. A lot of ALTs around my city told me different things.

     At first,I didn’t want to go to this school event because I didn’t have any confidence in my English skill. I reluctantly went to school . But International Day was fun against my will. ALTs speaking was easy to understand. They used pictures and gestures. In a game,I talked to ALT about food. I introduced bowl of rice topped with fresh seafood. Then I felt there were different cultures in the world.
     
     This the 5th poem describes a moment when Extensive reading started from the time of high school.

     When I was a high school student, I read stories in English at library in English class every week. The library was a little musty. I just read the book there. There were many words and grammar I could not understand, but I imagined the development of situation in the story. I read a lot of books for 3years. I liked the book “Anne of Green Gables “the best. This story was difficult for me to understand the story and characters’ emotions. It made me motivated.
     
     This the 6th poem describes a moment when I sang Western music that grabs and the rhythm of English.
     When I was a 1st year high school student, in English class, my teacher said “English words should memorize with rhythm.” I was surprised because I thought English words memorized by writing. The teacher suggested singing Western music to memorize English words. Also according to the teacher, singing Western music helped my English pronunciation.

      At first, Western music was unfamiliar for me. But I liked singing songs very much. So I was interesting this class.
       
     This the 7th poem describes a moment when I wathed a foreign film in English class in high school.

     When I was a 2nd year high school student. I watched “Frozen “in English class. It was a famous Disney film. I have watched it in Japanese once. I was in front of classroom because I have poor eyesight. In dark classroom, l was excited this atmosphere. The movie started,but although I have watched it once,I could not understand English. I felt it was a different story from the Japanese version of the film. I desperately compared the English audio with Japanese subtitles.
      
     This the 8th poem describes a moment when I debated in English at high school.

     When I was a 1st year high school student, I became a three persons group in English class to debate. There were three roles in debate. They were Construction,Attack and Defense. I was a Attack role. Attack role was to criticize the opponent. The subject of this debate was “School uniform is approval or abolish?”. I was abolish side. I had to think the idea about bad point of school uniform. It required logical sentences,but I was not good at it. I thought that school uniform was not cute… I could only think of this opinion.

 

     This the 9th poem describes a moment when I sang English songs at the chorus club.
     When I was a high school student, I belonged to chorus club. I was in music room. I sang a lot of songs Japanese songs,foreign language songs,musical songs and so on. Especially I often sang religious songs. Religious songs were in Latin or English. In English religious songs,I liked singing “Hallelujah “the best. This song was very cheerful,but it was difficult for me to sing good pronunciation. Normally ,I had to sing “Ha lle lu jah “,but I sang “Ha re ru ya “. Also I had to sing while thinking about meaning. I looked up in a dictionary hard and studied about Christianity. I thought I should study English more.
     
     This the 10th poem describes a moment when the English proficiency Grade 2 was acquired.

     When I was a 3rd year high school student, I tried my English skill after a long interval. I studied English grammar and English words hard,but it was difficult for me. I was poor listening. Getting over it was essential. But I didn’t know how to study English listening. Then I thought that I should talk to ALT at school to practice English speaking and listening. At first, I was ashamed of talking to her because my English was not good. Then she said me”Don’t hesitate to talk a lot.”And she gave me a lot of advice. I could try hard practice because of her.

Lesson 9:Description of seven poems 

     This the 4th poem describes a moment International Day held at high school .

     When I was a 1st year high school student, International Day held at high school. The day was speaking English day all the day. A lot of ALTs around my city told me different things.

    At first,I didn’t want to go to this school event because I didn’t have any confidence in my English skill. I reluctantly went to school . But International Day was fun against my will. I wrote sections of introduction .

1. Self introduction 

     My name is Yuka Kigure. “Yuka” is written “結花” by Chinese characters. It means to tie people like kindness flower. My birthday is September 4th. My blood type is B. I’m 19 years old. I ‘m a second year university student. 

     I ‘m from Shibukawa city. I have lived here since I was born. 

     I attend Gunma university. I belong to the Faculty of Education. And I major in Japanese. I’m interedted in classical literature. 

     I have studied English for 9 years. I have studied English since I was 11 years old. But I ‘m not good at English now… Still I wrote the poem hard.

2. Explanation of your theme 

     The theme of this book is learning English experience. I have studied English for 9 years in cram school,elementary school,junior high school,high school… I experienced different English lesson. Then I was interesting,difficult,tough… Many emotion was born. I write poems of “the moment “.

     I write 10 poems about learning English experience. I feel happy,hard,frustrated,positive in English lessons to high school from cram school. My 10 poems value positive Feelings. No matter how hard learning English, I don’t forget the positive feeling that I want to be able to speak,read,write English. I write different emotions in 10 poems.
